You dedication and thoughtfulness about the classroom and the students' learning should certainly come through in the portfolio. You should take a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of yourself as a teacher and in your students as well.

Good luck and I hope we cross paths again in future courses.

Your students are fortunate to have a teacher who is putting what he has learned and studied into practice. Congratulations and I hope all went well at Gannon!

Google has so many great programs that work in education. Good to know there is a place where educators can gather to learn about the newest applications and find ways to implement them in the classroom. Google Notebook sounds like a great application; one that can help the visual learner and also the organizationally challenged individual, too.

This all seems doable to me; my fingers are crossed. I know that students can get college credit in high school (and I don't mean AP classes). Can you imagine a world now without podcasting? I'd like to see your plan for urban schools that desperately need a surge of energy and information.

There are several ideas in your vision which I hope do come true. We are seeing an increasing number of youth in high school where the traditional setting is no longer working. To have a "middle college" which is intensely career and vocationally focused would help meet their needs. We certainly are failing them as the system is now. I also believe that students will not only be taking classes at their home schools but online at other public schools. We can not have teachers who are experts in all specialty classes in all schools. The online component would certainly help those experts be available to many.

I really like the changes that you envision for the student. The ability to graduate with college credit already completed or to leave high school "career ready". The thought that the student's learning and interest needs would both be meet is encouraging to consider.

Jim, I think Google Notebook will help all of us. I am continually researching topics for collection development and being able to browse plus take notes is a brilliant time saver. This is available for a cell phone as well. I'm not sure how this would work, but I'd give it a try. So it might be good for those kinesthetic learners.

I have downloaded picnik on the computers in my room at school for the students to use. The district doesn't have enough licenses for Photoshop for everyone and Picnik makes a nice substitute.
